Things to consider before the trip!
- Seasonality: This itinerary is most comfortable in spring and early autumn. Summer can be hot in cities and along the coast—midday pacing matters.
- Currencies: You’ll encounter different currencies (Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia). Cards work well in hotels and many restaurants; carry some cash for smaller places.
- Border crossings: This is a multi-country route. Border timing can vary; your tour leader adjusts pacing on travel days if needed.
- Connectivity: Hotel Wi-Fi is common. Mobile coverage is generally good in populated areas; remote lake/mountain areas can be weaker.
- Electricity: 230V / 50Hz, plug types C & F (two round pins). Bring a universal adapter if needed.
- Water: Tap water standards vary by area; bottled water is widely available.
- Flexibility: Timings may shift due to weather, traffic, site operations, or border formalities. The order of visits may be adjusted to protect the experience.
- Photo/video: Photos/videos may be taken during the tour for Balkland channels. If you prefer not to appear, tell your tour leader at the start.
