Join us for a day trip full of exciting discoveries and beautiful sights. This tour takes you to some amazing places in Herzegovina.
Come with us to see the best of Herzegovina, from historic towns to stunning waterfalls. This tour is a great way to spend a day and make lasting memories.
Our tour starts with a departure from Sarajevo, leading us on a picturesque drive towards The Old Stone Bridge in Konjic. This bridge, a remarkable example of classical Turkish architecture, has spanned the Neretva River since 1682. Despite its destruction in 1945, the bridge was beautifully rebuilt and reopened in 2009.
Next, we take a short 30-minute drive to Jablanica. Here, we delve into history at the site of the old train bridge, a significant symbol of the Battle of the Neretva during World War II.
Continuing our adventure, we head towards Mostar, just a 40-minute drive from Jablanica. Nestled in a beautiful valley along the Neretva River, Mostar is a historic town that flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries under Ottoman rule.
As we wander through Mostar, we’ll come across the famous Old Bridge, Stari Most, a symbol of the town’s rich history. Alongside, you’ll see captivating old Turkish houses, adding to the town’s unique charm. Mostar faced significant challenges during the 1990s conflict, including damage to many historical buildings and the Old Bridge itself, originally designed by the renowned architect Sinan.
Fortunately, thanks to efforts by UNESCO and the local community, much of Mostar’s architectural heritage has been lovingly restored or rebuilt. Today, the Old Bridge area serves as a powerful symbol of multicultural coexistence, blending diverse architectural styles from pre-Ottoman, eastern Ottoman, Mediterranean, to western European traditions.
Our next destination is the mesmerizing town of Blagaj, a short 20-minute drive from Mostar. Here, we’ll explore the Blagaj Tekija, a 600-year-old dervish monastery from the Ottoman era. Situated at the base of a cliff and beside the Buna River’s source, the Tekija offers a breathtaking sight. Despite renovations over time, it retains its captivating beauty and charm.
We then journey for about 30 minutes to Pocitelj, an ancient town recognized as a UNESCO heritage site. Recent restoration has brought back its original splendor. Walking through Pocitelj, with its ancient walls, narrow streets, and striking architecture, feels like stepping into a different era.
Our day concludes with a visit to the magnificent Kravica Waterfall, just 30 minutes from Pocitelj. Here, you can relax and enjoy the spectacular view of the waterfall and its lush surroundings.
The drive back to Sarajevo takes about 2.5 hours, giving you time to reflect on the day’s wonderful experiences.
